Very Attractive 19th Century Specimen Wood Inlaid Box with Herringbone Stringing.

Description

19th century most attractive and unusual mahogany box decorated on all sides with boxwood inlay and intricate herringbone stringing, as well as specimen wood inlays, including a yew wood central plaque to top.

The top and bottom edges are moulded, and the whole stands on beautifully shaped bracket feet.

The interior is lined with the original damask fabric.

This is a great box for sewing materials, jewellery, a desk tidy, or whatever one wishes.

Size-10.25 inches long by 8.25 inches wide by 5.5 inches high.

Weight-1.4 kilos.

It has lovely colour, grain and patina.

With only a slight bow to the top centre, it is in very good condition overall.

A very unusual and handsome period box to display on table or desk.
