Antique English Red Leather Covered Jewelry Box C.1870

Description

A super jewellery box, covered in a deep Burgundy coloured quilted leather inset with a nickel carrying handle to the top. All the other metalwork is in nickel including a full length top-notch hinge and a superb Bramah lock, only used on the finest of boxes, and complete with a working key.

This one stands out from the crowd with two trays inside creating a three layered box. The top tray is missing one of it's leather tabs used to lift out (mentioned purely for accuracy). Beautifully lined in a rich Plum coloured velvet.

Dating to around 1870, Victorian in era, and in excellent condition, measuring 9" x 6 1/2" x 5 1/4".
