Large Antique English Brass Bound Mahogany Jewelry / Desk or Table Box

Description

A wonderfully large example of an early Victorian Mahogany box bound with brass together with an inlaid escutcheon and vacant cartouche to the lid.

The interior has been relined with hand marbled paper perfecting fitting creating a clean and very usable box. The interior of the lid retains it's original leather panel with two brass catches holding it in place. Once opened the interior reveals a compartment to keep letters and papers.

Excellent condition with a French Polish finish having been professionally undertaken; a couple of old grain hairlines, mentioned purely for accuracy. Key for display only. A good usable size measuring 13 3/4" x 9 1/2" x 5 1/2" tall.
