A wall hung antique oak box of great colour, with a lift up lid and small drawer below, probably made for storing either salt or candles, dating from the mid to late 18th century.
A lovely item with fantastic colour and patina. It has a very cute little wedge shape drawer with its original handle, and a nicely shaped back with hanging holes - it currently has a cord to hang it from, but it could also be fastened to the wall with nails or screws through these holes.
Overall the condition is good, though there is a damaged area to one side under the lid, and there is an old repair to the lid where a crack had developed. There are a couple of marks and surface stains to the timber, but they are all part of its character.
