Fabulous Burl Walnut Writing Slope / Lap Desk - Brass Inlaid

Description

An absolutely splendid piece of timber was used to produce this stunning Burr Walnut writing box inlaid with a really attractive star brass inlay and the edges finished in a Tulipwood and Ebony beading.

The top has a large shield shaped cartouche coordinating with the brass escutcheon to the front which houses the working key.

The box opens to reveal a gold embossed leather writing surface with both top and bottom panels opening to reveal plenty of room for stationery & letters. The top section comprises a removable pen tray with space below, a lidded compartment for nibs and the like and finally a brass topped glass inkwell.

Excellent condition, measuring 14" x 9" x 5 3/4" tall while closed.
