Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
Inside the lid is a wonderful repousse fruit dish which stands on it's three bun feet and decorated with a central fruit vignette.
Underneath the tray of knives is a layer filled with all sorts of serving pieces, with two nut crackers, two nut picks, a sugar sifter, a sauce spoon, a pair of grape scissors and two beautiful fruit serving spoons with gilded bowls and again beautifully embossed.
The interior of the box is a real treat with all the original velvet and silk lining. The makers mark is present to some of the pieces T.W & S for Thomas Wilkinson & Son. Excellent condition with the box measuring 13 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 5" tall. The silver plated fruit dish measures 9 3/4" in diameter, the knife measures 8" in length and the fork, 6 1/2" long.
