Antique Miniature Architectural Mahogany Sedan Mantel Clock By Gibbs London.This stunning antique miniature mantel / sedan clock has a mahogany case with a lovely rich colour and grain. The case then has a dome to the top as well as to obelisks to the front corners. The case then has brickwork effect edges to the front corners leading to the shaped base. The shaped base then has a ribbed section to the front as well as a further stepped out base. Finally the clock is finished by four round brass feet.The dial is then enamel and set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring of dashes to the outside marking the minutes. The dial then has a lovely arched, gilt surround that is engraved with lovely scrolling patterns. The dial is then finished by two shaped fingers as well as a protective glass set into the door.The movement is then adjusted from the front and wound from the back. The movement then ticks away and works as it should. It is a verge fusee example of a sedan movement of the upmost quality. The movement is then engraved by the maker �Gibbs Banner Street London No 4732�. Finally the movement has a �Slow� and �Fast� adjuster built into the arch of the backplate.William Gibbs of London is recorded working circa 1860 and this clock would date to around that period.A truly beautiful and very rare timepiece that would look fantastic in any home or as part of a larger collection.It measures approximately:- 7.75� / 20cm Tall.- 5.5� / 14cm Wide.- 3.25� / 8cm Deep.
