Georgian Mahogany Cutlery Knife Box Serpentine Wooden

Georgian figured mahogany ebony edged serpentine fronted knife box, circa 1760.
 
Stunning red velvet and silk trim lined interior.
 
Original silvered brass pierced and engraved heart shaped lifting handles and shaped stop hinges.
 
The lid with silvered brass lifting handle, the button with engraved mother of pearl border (re used gaming counter), silvered brass escution.
 
Not overly restored, a fine wax polished finish with good patina.
 
In very good sound condition for its age, type and use, insignificant shrinkage splits, wear to the silvering.
 
Height 12,1/8'' or 310mm, weight 2052 grams.
