Superb Late Regency Mahogany Tea Caddy

A superb quality late Regency tea caddy in mahogany with a wonderful untouched patina and colour. The caddy really is of the finest quality throughout with a stylish ogee curved profile and pagoda top. The exterior is in wonderful untouched country house condition with only the odd mark and a slight loss to a back foot. The interior is complete and is lined in figured walnut, with quarter cut matched veneers to the lid, framed by a gilt moulding. The two removable canisters have matched veneers and retain their original linings. The mixing bowl while perfectly appropriate is most likely a later replacement. The piece really is a wonderful tea caddy of a superb colour and is a perfect example of English country house quality craftsmanship. C.1820.
