Large Victorian Figured Walnut Jewellery and Writing Box

A large and fine quality figured walnut Victorian combination jewellery and writing box. The box is of a good large size with well figured walnut veneers, inlaid with brass and edged in ebony. The box has a good colour and rich patina. The interior opens to reveal a fitted jewellery tray with the lid having a beautifully cushioned silk lining with small original mirror. The box has a secret side drawer which is sprung and released by a small pin. The front of the box falls forward and becomes a leather writing slope with ink wells and stationery section. The whole is in excellent condition having had some very good quality minor restoration and refitting to the interior. It retains a working key. C.1880.
