Opus Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
Boxes were made specifically so that they could be decorated by ladies using coloured paper which would be rolled up to create delicate rolls. These rolls were then inset onto the surface of a box in patterns. It is quite unusual to see a box with such good colours.
It measures 7cm w x 3cm h.
