Antique Tunbridge Ware Box - Tumbling Block Lid

19th century
Description

An early 1800s Tunbridge Ware rosewood box with a tumbling block/cube parquetry lid, which gives the lid a striking 3d effect. Various different woods were used including rosewood, walnut,,olive, ebony to name a few. Note the box is edged with hollywood which gives a nice defined edging.

It has a diamond shaped escutcheon. The interior of the box has been re-lined with silk and has a working key.

The box measures approx 19cm w x 14cm w x 6.cm h.
