Victorian Rosewood and Mother of Pearl Writing Slope

19th century
Description

A magnificent rosewood writing slope or lap desk that dates to around 1840

It has been professionally cleaned and waxed to retained its original patina, has an original brass topped inkwell, an antique maroon red leather skiver and a working lock and key

Has a mother of pearl cartouche and escutcheon

Also has an unusual extra…..a secret drawer which is sprung released when the divider to the left of the nib slope is raised….perfect to hide your sovereigns or precious items in

A very nice item which would make a lovely present

It measures 14 inches wide by 9 inches deep by 5 inches high
