Description

A finely carved 18th century figural snuff box. The box has been carved in the shape of a monk with his hands clasped together, feet poking out the base of the robes which are carved in such a way so that it looks like there are folds in the clothes. It has been carved from probably lime wood, it has a replacement hinged to the back.

A very unusual snuff box with some very good carving.
