Victorian Oak Military Campaign Deed Chest

Description

A magnificent large oak military campaign deed chest that dates to around 1840

It is in pretty much original condition....has had a sympathetic repair to the lid some time ago which does not detract from its charm and apart from that it very good order

A lovely deep brown oak colour that has been gently waxed to keep its original patina

Has a name of Lewis Loyd Esq RE ( royal engineers ) on its cartouche and a makers name on a brass plate on the inside edge, a good quality brass lock with a working key and inset brass campaign handles on each side

It measures 19 inches wide by 13 inches deep by 7 inches high
