Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
This box is however from the creme de la creme of manufacturers in London. There remains the small Ivory inlaid label on the inside, signed Houghton & Gunn, 162, New Bond St., this would have been an expensive box made for the gentry during this era.
The interior is fully fitted with six compartments the the top and bottom one running the full width of the box, the interior measuring 8 5/8" wide.
This exquisite box is in excellent condition (one minor mark to top, mentioned purely for accuracy), measuring 10 1/4" x 6" x 8 1/4" tall at rear.
