Victorian Rosewood Writing Slope

19th century
Description

An outstanding Rosewood writing slope/lap desk that dates to around 1840

It has a mother of Pearl cartouche and escutcheon and mother of Pearl inlay to the front and top

With a replacement black gold tooled leather insert, a working lock and key and a pair of matching brass top inkwells

It has a spring loaded secret drawer which is accessed by raising the divider to the left of the pen tray

Measures 16 inches wide by 10 inches deep and 5 1/2 inches high
