Opus Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
On the canted lid there is a further strip of inlaid feathered banding. It has an oval escutcheon with it's working key. The box stands on four compressed bun feet.

Inside it is lined with the original dark pink paper lining. It has several sections which house seven rosewood silk winders. It also has a whitewood lift out pin cushion along with a double ended pin poppet and acorn shaped tape measure, the silk tape has frayed at one end. It also has a silk needlecase book a pair of steel scissors and a small pot.
It is a great small size only measuring 17.5cm w x13.5cm d x 8cm h.
