Stunning Burr Walnut Dome Topped Stationery Box - Brass Bound C.1850

Description

A fabulous example of an English Victorian stationery box in rich cognac coloured Burl Walnut with stunning graining.

The box has been professionally re-French Polished to gleam and the brass fittings removed, professionally cleaned to gleam; the box now is simply a stunner. The fittings are of the finest quality, engraved to enhance the decorative mounts. There is an integral folding handle crowning the domed top. The mounts are followed right around to the back of the box, a sign of real quality together with it's screwed construction.

The interior is divided into four compartments and the interior of the lid lined in it's original blue silk taffeta.

Superb condition, measuring 8 7/8" wide x 4 3/4" deep x 6 1/2" tall to top of dome (excluding handle). Complete with working key.
