Rare French circular powder box in ormolu (gilt bronze) with hand-painted enamel portrait of Madame de Pompadour surrounded by pink enamel guilloche band. The interior contains the original glass liner and mirror (in the lid). Superb workmanship and decoration. Made in France 1890-1910 for Gimbels department store (1887-1987), Philadelphia, USA. Measures 7 x 7.5cm
Beautiful condition with nice patina. A lovely collector’s item.
