An unusual Italian glass casket with painted decoration, probably Venetian late 18th c.
The double hipped roof with individual glass panels linked by tooled gilt paper, flanking a central carrying handle, the outer glass panels of the lid painted with Arabesque designs and foliage, the sides of opaque Blue glass, on the underside of the hinged lid is aged foxed mirror glass, above the the original vibrant celeste Green paper interior.
Condition : overall the box is in fair condition for its age and given it''s an object made of such fragile materials. There is some damage to the tooled gilt borders but all of the glass panels are in good condition.
