Antique English Crocodile / Alligator Clad Jewellery Box C.1880

Description

A wonderful late Victorian jewelry box covered in a stunning piece of glossy chocolate brown crocodile skin.

The interior is totally original and is signed by the retailer, Steele & Co / Birmingham. The inside of the lid is lined in deep red silk, with a pocket. There is a fully fitted removable tray which incorporates to sections for rings (to house about three each) and a central section which originally would be used to store a pocket watch, now perfect for a bracelet or similar.

Excellent condition, minor wear to the interior commensurate with age, measuring 8 3/4" x 6" x 3 1/2" tall. Alas, no key.
