Knife Box Fine George III Mahogany Original Interior C1780

Here we have a glorious George III Mahogany inlaid knife box c1780. As you can see the knife box has fantastic colour and patina. The whole is a wonderful shape and there is a carefully selected flame veneer to the top. There is a very fine chequred strung inlay and crossbanded Tulip wood edge with a futher Ebony and Satinwood inlaid border. This latter border is replicated on all the verticals. The base has a cockbeaded edge and beautiful original paw feet. There is the original lock, very fine escutcheon, latch, handles and hinges in place. The interior is also wonderful and original with inlay and a starburst to the underside of the lid. A very fine example and the best of its type in excellent retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 36 cm high 25 cm deep 23 cm wide.
