Inside, the box is fitted with a lovely deep blue writing surface with a tooled edge. It comes with a pair of glass inkwells with brass screw tops and a pen tray. The top and bottom section of the writing surface lift up to give extra storage space below and there is also a long drawer on the side of the box which pulls out when a brass pin is lifted. There is also a small brass arm which allows the top of the box to be held in place at an angle and a book rest, stored under one section, to be placed in two small holes and used as a reading stand.

There are also three small concealed secret drawers which are revealed when a piece of wood next to the inkwell is pressed to release the spring holding the cover.
There are remains of an old paper label for the maker "Green" - maker to the Royal Family and an address 168 Oxford Street.

It is in excellent condition for its age and it comes with two working keys - one for the outer box and one for the inner slope. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks but no major damages and it displays beautifully. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please ask.
