19th century
Description

William IV (Circa 1830) rosewood writing slope. Military in style with good brass corner cappings and strapping. Possibly made Colonially with large ornate brass lock escutcheon and owners (blank) cartouche to the top. Two secret drawers to the interior concealed by a sprung panel activated by lifting an inkwell divider. WORKING lock with two keys. A pair of glass brass lidded inkwells. Smoothly operating brass lock. Re baized writing surface. Altogether a good looking and useable piece.

35.5 cm wide 25 cm deep and 15 cm high. When open 51 cm deep.
