Opus Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
It has the appearance of yew wood and is often misdescribed. The shrub seemed to thrive in the Killarney Lakes area and hence was used for the souvenir woodenware.
This box has one very small repair to the back edge of the box, which blends in well.
It measures 25cm w x 11.2cm d x 7cm h
