Gentleman's Antique Brass Bound Walnut Military / Campaign Box C.1850

Description

With it's rounded edges gently domed lid in fabulous burl Walnut and inlaid brass strapping around the sides, this box just wants to be picked up and touched, as tactile as handsome.

Dating to the mid 19th century, the box is made from warm Cognac coloured Walnut and opens 180 degrees and lays flat. The interior is fitted with various compartments and retains various articles such as a Ivory clad pieces including a razor, pen or fruit knife, button hook etc. If you wanted to utilize this as a box for cufflinks, change, watches etc. the pieces could present could be stored away to make a wonderful bedside or desk-top box ready for use.

The velvet covered panel is secured by a catch which when opens reveals a leather lined compartment for letters, papers etc.

A stunning box whatever you decide to use if for, most unusual in splendid condition measuring 10 1/4" x 6" x 4" tall while closed.
