Description

A Palais Royal piano shaped box, the exterior veneered in mahogany with a bone and ebony keyboard. It stands on turned legs, the interior with a mirror lined lid over a red velvet interior. Originally it would have had a lift out tray fitted with various items such as scissors, needlecase etc.

It measures approx 15cm x 20cm x 30cm

The name refers to the Palace in Paris, built for Cardinal Richelieu in 1629. It was originally known as Palais Cardinal but on the death of Richelieu it passed into the ownership of the French royal family
