Description

Around 1800, this English box started life as a tea caddy, which if you are a collector will identify as a remarkable example. Around 1880 somebody that really loved this piece had it converted into a jewelry box with a quality customised interior featuring two removable trays and all lined in chocolate silk; quite extraordinary.

The box is blessed with a plethora of floral and foliate inlay, the craftsmanship is outstanding. The top and front have a large Laburnum wood ovals, the top crowned with a polished brass handle and the front with a diamond shaped ivory escutcheon.

A museum quality item for the discerning collector. Excellent condition, measuring 7 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 5 1/4" tall. Complete with working key.
