French Mantel Clock By F Marti

A delightful 19th century marbled based clock depicting a bronzed metal cherub sat upon a stool , partially covered with garment draped to the floor, playing the cello , with a good browned patina . The clock is of gilt metal with a concave white enamel dial and Arabic numerals, painted garlands of flowers to the face . Nicely detailed hands and a bow and quiver of arrows to the top of the clock.
 
The clock is of an eight day duration and strikes on a bell.

Médaille d’or Paris 1900
 
Thé Marti family were well known clockmakers in the late 1800s
 
Fritz Marti et fils working from premises in Vieux- charmont in 1867 - exhibited in the Paris exhibition of 1889 and was awarded a médaille d ‘ or in 1900.
