Michael Johnson Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It made by Pearce of London 77 Cornhill around c.1850. It has a mother of pearl inlay on the centre lid and also a similar inlay for the escutcheon.

The interior you are greeted by then vanity area with various glass bottles and jars. Inside the lid is velvet lining but no mirror. The tray lifts to reveal more storage space. The bottom drawer is all original and in great condition. On the lip of the drawer is the makers label. It comes with a fully functioning lock and key and dates to mid Victorian 1850.
