Charming eighteenth century English, South Staffordshire, probably Bilston , enamel snuff box, circa 1780.
The large oblong box, well modelled as a dark brown and white King Charles Spaniel recumbent on a magenta cushion, an epitome of appealing elegance.
The lid (under) painted with a river landscape with castles, pond and people.
In good bright sound condition, strong hinge, noting general light hairlines, wear to the surface of the lid, old repairs to the rump of the dog and corner of the landscape.
2,1/4'' x 2,3/4'' x height 1,1/2'' or x height 58mm x 45mm x height 38mm, weight 48 grams.
