In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The box is fitted with a good quality leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge. It comes with it's original pair of glass inkwells with white metal tops and a pen tray. Both top and bottom sections of the leather surface lift up to reveal extra storage space below.
The box is in very good condition for its age with a beautiful patina and displays very nicely.
