Antique Tunbridge Ware Glove Box

Description

A good early 1800s inlaid parquetry box used originally for gloves but it would make a good box for pens, jewellery etc.

It is veneered in Rosewood and on the lid has a central circular pannel with kite shaped pieces in different woods around a central circle. Calamander, Rosewood and Tulip wood to name a few. On each of the corners is a quarter of an inlaid circle with diamond shaped inlaid pieces of wood. Note the contrasting colours of the different woods used. Chequered stringing surrounds the circle and separates off each individual piece of wood.
