The inside of the lid is decorated with prints and paintings as follows (from the left):

1. A naive painting of a horse and rider; 2. An engraving of "The Transformation of PICUS into a Woodpecker"; 3. A large naive painting of horsemen and hounds; 4. An engraved billhead for the Chester Races.
