Brass-bound Rosewood Apothecary's Box

Description

A fine quality mid-19th century rosewood “Apothecary” Box in superb condition. The box is of beautifully figured rosewood, bound in brass, with brass flush-mounted “military-style” brass handles to both sides. The lid opens to reveal the full contents of 16 ‘medicine’ bottles, all with their original labels and some with contents.

Arranged in the fully-fitted drawer below are various additional items which include: set of 6 smaller medicine bottles; set of brass scales & weights; tin boxes for powers etc; glass pestle-and-mortar; glass measuring jar and other medical bits-and-pieces! A lovely quality Apothecary’s fitted box, rare in rosewood.
