A very rare and interesting campaigner box made of goncalo alves wood (or tiger wood) which as you can see is a wonderful hardwood with striking figuring.
From the front this box has a simple lift up lid. However, turn it around and you have a full width drawer . There were originally 4 locks to secure this box; one at the front , 2 on either side and an additional one on the inside to fasten the drawer.
It has brass carrying handles on the sides and a brass handle for the drawer.
