WWI Leather Snuff Shoes P.o.w. Trench Art Pair Boots 1918 Calais

Description

Unusual, high quality miniature leather snuff shoes, modelled on a pair WWI British Army Officers' regulation field boots, circa 1918.

Aluminium topped plug lids with punch decorated inscriptions 1918 & CALAIS

Doubtless the work of a skilled cobbler, a prisoner of war or trench artist.

Fine craftsmanship,traditional stitched, nailed and layered construction from leather. Lacing and eyes from pins and copper wire.

Both boots in excellent condition with patinated surfaces.

Each boot 91mm x 61mm x 37mm

gross weight 80 grams.
