Michael Johnson Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It also has two inlaid brass carrying handles on the sides. It has a decorative brass inlay in the centre lid and also for the escutcheon. The interior comprises of a stationery rack to the top lid. It has a drop front to reveal the leather writing sloped section. It has 2 “very” secret drawers which are activated via a push button. Dates to around 1830 and comes with a fully functioning lock and key.
