A late George III satinwood toilet box by Bayley & Blew, mahogany banded and inlaid stringing, the hinged cover with a leather and baize fall with gilt stamped leather label 'MANUFACTURED BY BAYLEY & BLEW, 5 COCKSPUR STREET LONDON,' to an easel back mirror, the fitted interior with lidded boxes and compartments, glass bottles and jars, above three short leather or plush fitted drawers, one with ivory sewing accoutrements, to a divided base drawer, with side carrying handles, 9in (23cm) h, 14.5in (37cm) w, 10in (25.4cm) w. Bayley, Blew & Son, Cockspur Street, London are listed in The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, as cabinet makers, with an artist's satinwood cabinet recorded. The firm continued into the 19th century as Bayley, Blew & Chapman as dressing case makers and Perfumers to His Majesty and HRH Duke of York.
