Superb 18th Cent Chippendale Mahogany Tea Caddy

Description

Superb quality mahogany “Chippendale” tea caddy. It is a typical casket shape with concaved molded lid. It is in mahogany with ebony corner moldings and box wood borders.

It is in wonderful condition and has retained its original gilt brass rococo handle and keyhole escutcheon. It also has its original hinges and lock. Inside are three compartments which would have originally housed tin tea canisters or possibly, due to its quality, even silver canisters.

The maximum dimensions are:

25.5cm(10“) wide

15cm(6“) high (handle down)

15cm(6“) deep
