Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Vizagapatam sewing box is a decorative container crafted in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, India, during the 18th and 19th centuries for Western export. These items typically feature timber frames clad in ivory, bone, or tortoiseshell and are detailed with dark lac engraving depicting architectural scenes or botanical motifs.

Anglo-Indian work boxes were constructed using native hardwoods such as sandalwood, teak, or rosewood. The exteriors were adorned with incised bone or ivory veneers filled with dark lac, often accompanied by silver or brass fittings and silk or velvet interior linings.

Authentic Vizagapatam pieces feature hand-engraved penwork filled with dark lac, exhibiting cross-hatching and architectural details inspired by European engravings. Features include hand-cut construction joints, micro-veneered panels, age-appropriate patination, and original locking hardware.

An antique casket serves as a focal point placed on a sideboard, bookshelf, or console table in contemporary living spaces. Pairing the intricate black-and-cream graphic exterior with minimalist decor highlights the historical craftsmanship.

Store bone and ivory items in a climate-controlled environment with relative humidity between 45 and 55 percent to prevent cracking or warping. Clean gently using a dry, soft brush and avoid exposure to water, solvents, or direct sunlight.
