Silver Cigarette Box Mappin & Webb C.1950

1940 - 1960
Description

Rare and superb solid silver cigarette box by London makers MAPPIN & WEBB in1959 and unusually is set with a thick oblong slice of banded agate. This has a plain silver collar and border which is then bordered by fine quality engine turning. The sides are plain silver as are the chunky 4 squared off feet. The inside rim of the box as well as the lid also has a border of fine engine turning.

Altogether a very nice silver table cigarette box of outstanding quality and restrained design by a good maker. Hallmarked on the bottom and also on the inside lid.

Usual signs of wear consistent with age and use but no holes, dents, solder or repairs

Size - 16.5 x 10.5 x 4.5 cms. Total Weight - 625 gms. Cat # 587/ucz
