Victorian English Hand Painted Papier Mache Glove Box

Description

Dating to the mid nineteenth century, around 1850, this antique glove box is very likely to have been made by Jennens and Bettridge, the most famous of Papier Mache manufacturers and many of his pieces were unsigned, as is this one.

The lid has a wonderful dome to it and beautifully decorated with a hand painted floral central panel and surrounded by ornate gilt work.

There is no damage to the box, there is the typical crazing to the surface; and yes, it does come with a working key.

Excellent condition measuring 9" x 3" x 3 1/4" tall.
