Rosewood Campaign Writing Slope C.1800

Description

Here we have a stunning example of a large campaign military writing slope. The main exterior wood being rosewood it’s brass bounded around the edging for that extra strength and durability. It comprises of two flush brass handles on each side. The interior comprises of the writing sectioned slope. What is most unusual about this particular writing slope is the secret drawers. They are activated and revealed by the small piece of metal on the key ring. You place this metal bar inside the small hole hidden under the a small piece of cloth on the right hand side compartment. Once inserted the secret drawer cover is sprung open. A very unique and rare design feature in Georgian writing slopes. It comes with a key and fully functioning lock and dates to C.1800.
