Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A boudoir cabinet is a compact storage piece or side table traditionally placed in private dressing rooms or bedrooms. Arising in 18th-century France, these cabinets were designed to hold personal belongings, cosmetics, or books within small, private living spaces.

Pieces from this period frequently incorporate carved wood frames with painted or water-gilded finishes, inset marble tops, and woven cane or glass panels. Hardware and accent trims are typically made from cast brass or gilt bronze.

Authentic Louis XVI cabinets feature neoclassical geometric forms, straight lines, fluted tapered legs, and decorative motifs such as ribbon ties, guilloche borders, and acanthus leaves. Construction details include hand-cut joinery, carved gilding, and period-correct marble edge profiles.

Place the cabinet as a standalone accent piece in a hallway, bedroom, or living room alcove. Pair it with neutral textiles and simple decor to highlight the carved gilding and marble surface without cluttering the space.

Dust giltwood gently with a dry ostrich feather duster or dry microfibre cloth, avoiding water or chemical cleaners that can lift gold leaf. Marble tops should be wiped with a damp cloth using mild, pH-neutral soap and immediately dried to prevent staining.
