A fusee clock utilises a conical pulley and chain mechanism designed to equalise the declining power of the mainspring as it unwinds, ensuring accurate timekeeping.

Traditional materials include solid timber cases such as mahogany, oak, or rosewood, brass movements, enamelled or silvered dial faces, and glass panels.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-engraved backplates, high-quality brass fusee movements, traditional hand-cut joinery, and patinated timber consistent with age.

An antique clock serves as a focal point on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or console table, contrasting traditional craftsmanship with modern minimalist design.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, wind it carefully according to its specific mechanism, and have it professionally serviced every few years.
