Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Under the lift out tray we still have all three of the original ivory items, 2 fold sector, protractor and parallel rule all stamped Harling. There are also various pins and paints etc. It is rare now-a-days to find a set of these in completely original condition, many of them have been mucked about with and don't have their original items inside.
It is in very good condition apart from a minor hairline crack to the top of the box on the left hnd side and a small veneer chip to the back.
