Description

A rare Victorian rosewood musical ladies dressing table case or vanity box by Halstaff and Hannaford of 228 Regent Street, London. It is fitted complete with all original silver topped lids, hallmarked 1850, with makers mark, JH, believer to be John Howes.

This fitted box is lined with blue leather and plush blue velvet and contains numerous compartments and sections, including a fold down compartment for letters, with removable mirror.

The box contains an assortment of nine original glass bottles and jars, each with beautifully engraved solid silver tops. There is also a hidden jewellery drawer. This box has a very rare musical box, which is wound from a removable key to the outside and plays when the lid is open.

This box is in excellent condition, light wear. The four bottles to the rear of the box, one glass stopper is stuck. The remaining three all remove, however there are chips to the rims, under the silver lids; this is not noticeable unless the silver lids are removed.
