Description

A very attractive and top quality Victorian burr walnut campaign writing box. The exterior with protective brass straps, corners, sunken carrying handles and blank central cartouche and escutcheon (no key). The box opens to reveal a fitted ebonised interior with a replaced hand dyed black leather writing surface with decorative gold and blind tooling. The top with a coromandel pen tray and compartments for ink pots and paper clips etc. The top slope opens to a storage compartment which conceals 3 secret drawers behind a blank mahogany facia, this is released by lifting a sprung divider in the top. The lower slope also opens to another mahogany lined interior and a brass pin releases the side drawer. This antique writing box is in pristine condition and would make an ideal gift.
